Dear Assemblymembers Simitian and Leonard:
The University has worked expeditiously over the last two weeks
to resolve issues raised at the May 1
budget hearing regarding the Riverside Biomedical Sciences
program. Attached is a proposal for
reconfiguring the program to meet the concerns of the
University, community physicians who spoke at
the hearing, as well as members of the Legislature. We have
worked cooperatively with the community
physicians, the Riverside campus and your Subcommittee staff to
develop this proposal.
I can tell you that President Atkinson is very pleased with the
outcome of our discussions on this topic;
we all hope you find our proposal acceptable. Please let me know
if you have further concerns regarding
this issue.
Sincely,
Larry Hershman
